Sixth Form at Christmas

Clevedon's Sixth Form celebrated the end of term with a couple of festive events today. The traditional Christmas jumper competition saw a range of yuletide fashion statements, ranging from elves' outfits and reindeer to colourful Christmas characters and designs.

At lunch we enjoyed the first Sixth Form Christmas Dinner. With crackers, table decorations and trimmings we made use of the new Sixth Form cafe to tuck into a full Christmas spread of roast turkey, followed by Christmas pudding.

May we take this opportunity to wish all our parents, families and friends a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Calamity Jane School Production

A huge congratulations to all those who performed on stage, behind stage, front of house and in the preparation for this year's Clevedon School production of Calamity Jane. The show was a tremendous success with the audience marveling at the cast's acting, dancing and singing talents.

Everyone involved put in weeks of preparation and rehearsal - during the day, in the evenings and weekends. However, it all paid off with three nights and two matinee performances which brought the house down.

Well done!!

U19 Somerset FA County Cup Success

Clevedon 6th Form scored a great opening round victory over the reigning Somerset FA County Cup Champions – West Somerset College. Sporting its own Football Academy West Somerset College turned up confident that they would continue their previous excellent form and moved into a 3 – 0 lead within the first half. However, two successful penalties  from David Clark and further goals from  Frasier Linnet and James Capon, in response to one further goal from West Somerset College, ensured that Clevedon reached full time at 4-4.

Extra time was played out with no further goals scored and the match nervously reached penalties. Clevedon’s goal keeper, James Williams, showed inspired form to save two goals allowing Clevedon to  move through to a second round tie with Beechen Cliff School, Bath, 4-1 on penalties. Clevedon’s four successful penalty takers were David Clark (completing his penalty hat tricks), Frasier Linnet, Tom Clark and Luca Murray.

Well done to the full team who showed great resilience, determination and team work to come back from 3-0 down and win through against such esteemed opposition.

Woodspring Debating - more success!

Following the success of Rory  and Jack, who won the first round of the Woodspring Debating Competition two weeks ago, we had further success last night (3rd November) at Nailsea School with David and Billy, also from Clevedon's Sixth Form, who successfully made it through to the final, which will be held Churchill School in January.

The boys spoke eloquently and convincingly on The motion: This house believes that social media is making society meaner.

Next up are Millie and Hannah, who will be representing Clevedon at Gordano in two weeks.

Good luck!
